One of the favourite events of Farmers Appreciation Week is our Ode To a Farmer poetry contest! For the fourth year in a row, we invite British Columbians to show their appreciation for BC farmers and agriculture through words. Whether it be a sonnet, limerick or haiku, get your creativity juices flowing and send in your farm-themed poem.

The Downtown Courtenay Farmers’ Market held on Fifth Street on Wednesdays ends Aug 31st. The market started mid-June and has run every week, hosting about 25 vendors a week bringing their fresh local food to the Downtown Core. Executive Director Vickey Brown is happy with the season; we had a good turnout of vendors and customers this year even with some sketchy weather to start.”

Summer Food Fest Saturday July 16th!

The fabulous chefs of the North Vancouver Island Chefs Association will be joining us this weekend for another seasonaly inspired Food Fest. Come on down and join us for a taste of what summer harvest brings! 

Our lead chef this week is David Lang. A 20 year vetran chef who's repertoire has been shaped by a strong connection and passion for the utilization of local, seasonal and wild foraged ingredients.
